Question
A few years ago I almost joined the Air force.  They really wanted me.  I decided to wait and ended up getting in trouble with the law.  I have 2 Class A Misdemeanors for Robbery.  They happened at the same time in 2006.  Have I lost my chances with the Air force?  I have not gotten in trouble since.  I finished probation.  I have a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science.  Minor in Physics.  I have other Computer certifications.  I want to do something with Computers.  I did not join before because I had to pick 5 jobs and I would get one of them.  I wanted to try Computer Programming.  I had to take this test and didn't score high enough.  I made sure I filled out every question thus guessing at a lot at the end.  Later I found out you are not supposed to finish and the ones you don't answer don't count against you.  So I could of done a lot better.  Maybe if i took it again I could be a Computer Programmer for the Air Force.  Basically now I just want to join and do anything with computers for the military.  I am smart and I want the disipline, structure, and confidence the military can offer.  Am I too late?  Have I screwed up and blown my chances with the military?

Answer
This one is a really stick situation. Because in certain parts of the country Robbery is considered a Felony. This will have to be determined by the local laws and policies and how the Air Force observes the charge. My best advise that I can tell you is to start talking to the services to see where you stand.. The one thing that you have in your favor is the fact that you cleaned up your act and got education!!

So go see what they all say... You already know what the worst answer is..

I have spent the past 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, 3 years was assigned as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter. I have been deployed various times to several locations. If it is a career in the military you are looking for or thinking about I most likely have the answer. I still have contacts with in the recruiting field and if I don't know the answer then I have folks who do where I can find the answer. I am very blunt and straight forward and will make no attempts to BS you. I will give you the best information that I possible can can. If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
