Question
Ok so i have gone through all of the process' of joining the military. Scored in the 50's on my ASVAB done all the paper work, passed MEPS, chose my MOS, signed a bunch of contracts, did my first swear in. Although when i was choosing my MOS the ones i have researched and wanted were unavaliable so i was forced into a job i didn't really want. But after research i see that it isnt the job for me. Now i have relatives who told me if its not the MOS i want i can ask my recruiter if it can be changed, or if i can wait for the one i want to be available or i always have the option to up out and join another branch that offers me the MOS i want.

My question is, is that possible? If i talk to my recruiter (Army) and they cant do anything or wont change my MOS contract, do i still have the option in not joining the army? Then can i go to other branches still? The tricky part i don't know about is that i already signed the contracts and swore in the first time, i am scheduled to go to basic in 4 months. So am i stuck? or do i still have options?

Answer
It is possible to change MOS, but unlikely unless  there is a job they need more.

As far as going another service, that won't happen.

The only option you have is not to ship to basic and wait to see when they release you to try to join another service.

Expertise

I am a National Guard recruiter , been doing it for seven years and am a subject matter expert on qualifications for National Guard and I keep up to date on Regular Army regs and programs. I was in the Navy for 4 years and have 13 years in the Guard. I will not sugar coat my answers to you. They are usually short and to the point. If you need more in depth, ask me. Because each situation is different, alot of times you need to actually talk to a recruiter and let them evaluate your situation in person, by looking at your documents, issues etc. If I suggest this, it would be in your best interest to do so. Finally...thank you for your interest in serving this great nation of ours. Very few people can actually make the cut to serve let alone choose to do so. So thank you for wanting to and hopefully you will get a chance. Whatever branch you choose, thank you and good luck.
