QuestionThank you for taking the time to answer my question. I've been having trouble finding information on what the marine corps are considering competitive for admission into OCS these days. The economy has slowed and more college graduates are turning to the military. Specifically, what GPA's/PFT scores are they looking for. Also, would you happen to know how competitive it is to be placed in an MOS within the financial field without a finance degree?
Thanks for any help.
AnswerThe field is more competitive for grads then people who are still in undergrad...however a good baseline is a 3.0 gpa and a 275 pft. It certainly doesnt mean that you have no shot if you are below either one, but to give yourself the best chance Id say those numbers are pretty solid to get you accepted. However, Id highly reccommend going to www.marineofficer.com in order to get the contact information for your local OSO (officer selection officer). As far as the financial MOS, you get assigned your MOS after OCS AND after TBS, and I have several friends who got Comptroller (essentially financial management) without a finance degree. SEMPER FI.
