Question
Hi I am wondering how I could become an Officer. I am rated at 30% with the VA. I can come back into active duty as enlisted just would have to have the va disability dropped when I do. My question however is I don't want to be enlisted again I want to go in as an Officer. I am a former Marine infantryman got out as a corporal honorable re-1a reenlistment code. If need by I was going to try to go get re-evaluated by the va and have them drop my 30% down to 0% so I can go before an OCS board. From what I have heard you can't go before an OCS board with any va disability. Just wondering if you had any suggestions or hoops that I need to jump through to get back in. Thanks, Justin

Answer
Hey Justin

Thats a really good question and I gotta be honest with you, Im not entirely sure of the VA process and how it pertains to new officers. Your best bet would be to contact your local Officer Selection Officer (OSO)...you can use this website to find the local one
www.marineofficer.com

I hope it all works out for you, priors generally make very good officers, semper fi!
