Question
Hi there,

My son is 17 and a Junior in High School.  He has one more year left then graduates.  This last December he was thrown out of the back of a truck bed from a accident and hit his head which required brain surgery.  He is fine, but I was wondering if he is able to join the military with this kind of injury?

Answer
Hi Michelle

Each case regarding an injury, especially a serious one like your son's, tends to be different. The only true way to know for sure is to contact your local recruiter, explain the situation to him and have all the medical files with you as well. I also would reccommend getting a letter written from his primary doctor explaining that he is expected to make a full recovery. good luck!
