Question
Hello, thank you for taking the time to read this. Let me start by saying that I joined the AF as a boom operator. I had been completely qualified at Altus AFB. My unit got a new 1st Sgt, unfortunately we didnt hit it off. I ended up getting discharged prior to arriving to my permanent duty station. He cited the reason being failure to complete alcohol rehabilitation. I am not happy about how the discharge happened and I was wondering if you had any advice about the possibility or ways to go about disputing or challenging my discharge codes. Thank you very much for your time.

Answer
Dear Levi --

If you did not do what you were discharged for, you would have been better off fighting it before your discharge.  Since you did not, your only alternative to is to petition the Military Board of Corrections.

You can get some information about how to petition the Air Force at this web site:  http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/correcting-records.htm...

Please write back, if you have more questions.  Good luck to you.
