Question
I've been trying to find answers but I'm not really for sure how this works, my boyfriends an idiot, and decided to go to a party and someone got him to smoke pot, he got a drug test later that week and freaked out and told his srgt. what happened, his srgt. told him not to worry about it, he had just got promoted to lance corporal and they are now trying to make a case because he failed his drug test. i realize he will probably get a dishonorable discharge, but my question was is there a way to change it to honorable, he said yes but i wanted to be sure. he said if he goes to a police station and passes a drug test they can change it to honorable, is this true?

Answer
Nicole:

Well, you certainly got one thing right...he's an idiot.  Since he's failed his test, he'll be busted to PFC but not likely dishonorably discharged.  He'll probably get 45 days restriction, 45 days extra details, the loss of rank, plus a fine of several hundred dollars for a few months as well.  But he's not likely to get thrown out unless he does something REALLY stupid from this point.  And no, you can't just waltz into a police station and ask to be 'drug tested', there is no way to do that and the police don't 'drug test' people.  Advise him to suck it up and take what's coming to him, and not to do dumb crap in the future, and he just *might* salvage his career.

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
