QuestionQUESTION: I would first off like to thank you for reading this, as I am restless in my search for answers. I have a couple questions but I will try to be brief and get to the point with them all. Just a little background, I'm prior service AF, I separated 2 years ago, but I've missed it every since I drove away from my base for the last time. I was a 2E1X5
1. My RE code was 2X, Is there any way to change that code? and how long does that take?
2. If can't change my code, is it possible to go AFROTC and go officer (per my age in mind)?
3. What other branches will except a RE code of 2x?
4. And is it too late to be considered for the USAF Academy?
Thank you for your assistance
ANSWER: I have to apologize, I do not know what a 2E1X5 is, if you could explain it to me in a little more detail I will definitely do some research and get back to you!

QUESTION: 2E1X5 is my AFSC otherwise know as Ground Radio Communications
AnswerHi Pierre
Thanks for the specifying what your MOS code means, in the usmc we have different identifiers and I was a bit confused. As far as re-enlisting or becoming an officer (in the USAF or any other service) you can do so...they should not care what your old MOS was. However, if you wanted to get in as an officer and do communication stuff, that might make you more attractive since you have prior service experience in that field. I am not sure about the age requirement for the USAF academy, check out their website for the best and most accurate info. Talk to you recruiter (shop around, go to all the various services and ask about both enlisted and officer programs) and find out what ALL your otpions are. But the short answer is this - your options will not be limited by the fact that you were a prior service member, if anything it will help you. Keep me updated and best of luck!
