Question
Hi, I have been thinking about joining the Marine Corps Reserves. I am 22 and a single parent of two children. I was first wondering if I am able to join since I am a single parent, I do have someone who will take care of them while I am gone. My other question is, they still see their father every sat., he said he will fight me for custody if I chose to join the military. Are there any steps I can take to prevent that from happening. Thanks

Answer
I commend you on considering joining the military and I can assure you that you won't be discriminated against just because you have kids...with that said the only real way to know the proper steps to take (for both your enlistment, boot camp and child custody process) is to first talk to a recruiter...and then, even more importantly get some legal advice from a lawyer  you trust. Good luck.
