Question
I'm thinking of transferring from the navy to the Marine Corps. Currently I am an E-5 up for E-6 with about 7 years in, no NJP's or any negative marks against me. What will I face if I decide to go to the Corps? This is just preliminary research and I have not talked to a recruiter. I understand that I do need to talk to a recruiter for any concrete answers, but I would like to know what I am walking into before I get there. Thank you for your time.

At this rank, it will be extremely difficult for you to do. The Marine Corps won't take your current rank or MOS, for starters. The best you can do is E-3 AFTER you complete recruit training. You *could* be promoted to E-4 after six months of service, but that's as far as you'll be able to get on enlistment. I'd talk to a recruiter to get the 'full' information but this is how the Marine Corps works, nobody gets to just 'transfer' without going to recruit training and MOS school.

Intelligence Specialist: MOS 0231 10 years working as an Intelligence Analyst with a Fixed Wing Fighter Squadron, Force Service Support Group, and at Headquarters, Marine Corps. Field Radio Operator: MOS 2531. Served as a Platoon Sergeant in a Communications Platoon assigned to MEU Service Support Group 24 (Special Operations Capable). Did a hitch in the Army reserves as an 11B (Infantryman), 3 years. Finished out my career in the Air National Guard as a BioEnvironmental Engineer MOS 4B3X1, did that for a few years.
I"ve been collecting and selling Marine Corps and other military uniforms, medals, and field gear since I was 8 years old.
