Question
What does it take to be a cobra pilot in the marines?

Answer
In order to be a cobra pilot you need to be a commissioned officer (warrant officers do not qualify to the best of my knowledge), have attended OCS, TBS and finished the two years of flight training in pensacola, fl and then had good enough grades to be selected as a cobra pilot, its quite a long process. I know that the army and navy have warrant officer flight programs, but the marine corps does not. And unfortunately the marine corps is the only  brance that flies the cobra.
