Question
Good afternoon, I'm currently in the NG, with the desire to go active Army after I'm commissioned in August. Is this a possibility, and what are the steps if this is possible? If this is not possible will I have to sign the six year contract the they are dangling in front of me?

Answer
There is a possibility.  You'll need to put together a packet and forward it through your chain of command to the TAG in your state. If he approves to release you, he'll forward the packet to Human Resources Command who will have to agree to accept you. On acceptance and then some other administrative red tape, you'll be called into active duty.  As far as the 6 year contract you're talking about, I truly have no clue. Usually this is signed on entry to the service, so if this is a reenlistment you've got no obligation to sign anything. Sorry I couldnt be more specific on the second part, but I truly don't actually know what you're asking.

Expertise

I am currently an active duty Army Captain in the Military Police Field. I have been enlisted (Military Intelligence) and attended The United States Military Academy at West Point. I can answer questions related to the Army, posting, jobs, lifestyle, workings... pretty much anything you can throw at me with the exception of very specific recruting or medical questions. I have no expertise in what it takes to get in the military other than the fact that I, myself, joined at one point in time.

Experience

I have experience in both deployed and garrision environments as a Military Police Officer.

Education/Credentials
Bachelor of Science in Arabic and French from United States Military Academy at West Point.
