Question
My son is going to enlist in the Marines, and everyone has told him to "get it in writing".  Can you do that?  And can you define an open end contract?  I'm quite new to all this, and am not sure who to ask, because a recruiter is a recruiter, isn't he?
Thanks!

Answer
recruiters can revoke a contract if the applicant violates the terms of the contract (ex. uses drugs, gets arrested etc...). However, if your son signs the contract and everything goes according to plan, then he technically has "done it in writing". The only further step he could really ask for (or better yet, you as his parent are in a better position to ask for it) is for a copy of his signed enlistment papers. semper fi!
