Question
Hi John,
I am going to join Army active duty. I was told that all training seats for the MOS I want (68Q) had been sold out for this year. My recruiter tried hard to push me to accept some MOS he could get for me. I have refused him firmly.
I did a searching online and found this information through this link:

My question is whether  they are right about the “90 days +” issue? And, Does it mean that I am taking the training seat of FY 2009 if my shipping date is after this September in my contract?
Best regards

Answer
This time of years, training seats fill up and they do not release them until the new FY or closer to the end of this FY.  They do this so they can fill jobs that need to be filled.  If you really want a certain job, wait until it is available to join, if they can't put it in your contract, do not fall for any thing they say.  68Q is hard to get and fills up fast due to job oppurtunities after the Army.

Expertise

I am a National Guard recruiter , been doing it for seven years and am a subject matter expert on qualifications for National Guard and I keep up to date on Regular Army regs and programs. I was in the Navy for 4 years and have 13 years in the Guard. I will not sugar coat my answers to you. They are usually short and to the point. If you need more in depth, ask me. Because each situation is different, alot of times you need to actually talk to a recruiter and let them evaluate your situation in person, by looking at your documents, issues etc. If I suggest this, it would be in your best interest to do so. Finally...thank you for your interest in serving this great nation of ours. Very few people can actually make the cut to serve let alone choose to do so. So thank you for wanting to and hopefully you will get a chance. Whatever branch you choose, thank you and good luck.
