Question
Hi I know you said you cannot answer any recruitment questions but I was wondering if you might know someone that can? Here is my story I was on active duty Air Force just shy of three yrs I went into the guard and have been there for about a year and 1/2 .l My AFSC is 3E9X1 Readiness troop. I seperated with an honorable discharge RE code 1j, I separated due to pregnancy with as perfectly good record. I want to get back on active duty very bad my husband is still active and made a mistake separating. Is there any information you can give me to help??? My old supervisor told me to write my congressmen, I have talked with a recruiter and he basically just tried to run me off the phone. thank you so much for your time and any assistance you can give me I am seriously out of answer and just want nothing more then to be in the air force again.

I'm really not sure why you would need to write anyone ... a Reenlistment Eligibility Code of RE-1J says you are eligible to reenlist, but elected to separate.  The Code "1" says you can reenlist in the Air Force or any other service with no problem.  I'm not sure why your recruiter didn't address your questions.

Although reenlistment questions aren't my specialty, I would suggest you contact the MPF at the base you separated from -- or a base close to you if you have moved a great distance.  Tell them you are a prior service enlistee who wants to return to service.  They should be able to get you in contact with someone who will work with you, as opposed to a recruiter.

I hope I provided a little guidance for you ... good luck.

Sincerely,
James Bell

Expertise

I am a retired MSgt (2004) with 24 years experience in the aircrew career field, both as a loadmaster (AFSC 1A2x1) and flight engineer (AFSC 1A1x1). I have been to every continent at one time or another, and regularly flew 300 to 500 hours a year. I have been involved in the operations in Grenada, Panama, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq. I can answer most questions you may have about enlisted Air Force life in general, assignments, benefits, and enlisted aircrew operations. NOTE: If you have specific recruiting and/or medical questions about how to get into this career field as a civilian, they have changed since my time, so that is best answered by a recruiter or MEPS. I can answer questions about military personnel wanting to RETRAIN. If you are asking about being an Air Force pilot, please be advised my area of expertise is ENLISTED aircrew operations, NOT OFFICERS.
