Question
Colonel,

I am a prior enlisted sailor that is just finishing up his MBA in Healthcare. I want to return back to the US Navy's MSC corps, however, when I left active duty I had a honorable discharge with a RE-3 code. What is the likely hood of me becoming a medical service corps officer with this enlistment code? I am in great shape now, by the way.

Respectfully,

Walter

Answer
Walter,
There must be more to your Re-Entry code than just RE-3.  It should be followed by a letter.
Also I need to know your 3-digit "Separation Code."  These can be found in blocks 26 and 27 of your DD214 form.

The regulations say, "Individuals with a Navy/Marine/Coast Guard RE Code of "3" can normally reenlist in their service or another Service, but will probably require a waiver to be processed."

Please send me a follow-up marked "private" not "public" and I can tell you more precisely what your chances will be.
