Question
Hi, I'm hoping you can help me, i just joined the Navy and leave for boot camp on July 16th.  I am 24 years old and married and just found out my wife is a few weeks pregnant. Do i have to worry about that affecting my enlistment?  Should i have my wife call the recruiter after i have left for boot camp to tell them about the pregnancy, (no one knows yet)  Will the pregnancy be covered as long as i make it through boot camp? (i am extremely physically fit in fact they have asked if i am going into the seals) And can she go to any Doctor?  Hopefully you can help me out.  Please let me know any other things that you think would be helpful  thank you very much

Answer
You are fine.  Once you leave, you will find out about tricare, the military medical insurance.  Your wife and child will be covered, and it in no way affects your enlistment.

Congratulations!!!!

Your family will be well taken care of.  Good luck

Expertise

I am a National Guard recruiter , been doing it for seven years and am a subject matter expert on qualifications for National Guard and I keep up to date on Regular Army regs and programs. I was in the Navy for 4 years and have 13 years in the Guard. I will not sugar coat my answers to you. They are usually short and to the point. If you need more in depth, ask me. Because each situation is different, alot of times you need to actually talk to a recruiter and let them evaluate your situation in person, by looking at your documents, issues etc. If I suggest this, it would be in your best interest to do so. Finally...thank you for your interest in serving this great nation of ours. Very few people can actually make the cut to serve let alone choose to do so. So thank you for wanting to and hopefully you will get a chance. Whatever branch you choose, thank you and good luck.
