Question
Hi Matt, My name is Kyle, Im 21 years old and have been very curious about
the military for a while now, My dad was in the Navy, his dad was also in the
Navy. I was curious to see if i would be able to join the marines with a GED? I
have heard alot of different things stating that i could not join with a GED.
Also if i could join what will my steps be to becoming a pilot? I have always
wanted to become i pilot, i have my A&P Airframe and Power plant license,
but want to be a pilot. If i can not do this through the marines, would you
know what i would need to do to become i pilot through the navy? Thanks for
your time!
Kyle

Answer
Hi Kyle

You can join the marines with a GED to the best of my knowledge. However, to be a pilot you need to be an officer, which requires a college degree (4 year). The army however has a warrant officer pilot program and I believe you do not need a college degree, but the only way to truly know is to contact an army recruiter about that one. With your AP background, you could always enlist in the marines, become an aircrewman and/or mechanic, then apply for the MCEP program, which is essentially tne USMC sends you to college after you have served a few years enlisted. Contact your local marine recruiter for more info. Sorry about the delay, I was on leave. Best of luck!
