Question
Hi just wondering if it is possible to get into the Airforce or Army here the situation.

In 2002 i was discharged from the Army with a re 3 code this was during AIT . I am 29 years old. I'm married with 4 kids. I also have gotten an associates degree in applied science since the whole discharge issue. Is there any chance of me getting into any of these military branches

Thanks

Terance

Answer
Dear Terance --

You might be able to petition for a waiver of your re-entry code, and re-enlist.  You will need a very strong waiver package showing you have matured and are dependable now, despite the fact you were not in 2002.

The fact that you completed your associates degree will help, but will not be sufficient.  You will also need to show, dependability and reliability.  Further, you will have to show that whatever attribute or behavior caused your discharge in 2002 is no longer an aspect of your behavior or personality.

If you are serious about re-enlisting with a waiver, I recommend waiting until 1 October, when the fiscal year changes, in order to be sure there are sufficient waivers available.

The Air Force is unlikely to offer you a waiver.  You are more likely to get one from the Army.

Good luck to you.
