Careers: Military--Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, Coast Guard/enlisted to comissioned

Question
I am 32 years old and have served for roughly 8 years in the enlisted ranks, 5 in the Navy and 2 in the Army National Guard. I recently re-enlisted in the Air Force Guard as in the field of Satellite communications. I enjoy being in the service and would like to continue as a "weekend warrior".

I am working towards a degree in business management and am highly interested in a commission in the Air Guard. I read that the cut off age is 35. I am quickly approaching this dead line so have considered attending and accredited adult university, University of Redlands, Chapman University, Azusa Pacific etc.

My questions for you are: Will the Air Force consider this degree form one of these institutions? If I don't get in before the age of 35 are there age waivers? Do you have any advise on accomplishing this goal? Where may I find more information regarding this subject?

Your help is greatly appreciated

Answer
Julian,

Yes, they will consider some of theses degrees.  You should check with your education office or representative to find out for sure which ones count.  There is a list of accredited schools at:
http://www.educationdegreesource.com/  I know American Military University, Phoenix University, and University of Maryland are very popular ones wherever I've been stationed.  I must admit, I've never heard of the ones you mentioned.

The Air Force seldom gives age waivers for commissioning unless you are a higher ranking NCO.

Don't forget that you are eligible for tuition assistance.  For details check out:

You really need to contact the Education Office at the AFB nearest you.

Good luck,
Colonel H
