Question
i am a math major and i want to go into the army as a officer i was wondering what mos's are in the army that would suit me? also the next questions is the same as the top but just change the degree to a computer science instead of a math thank you

Answer
Jesus,
The normal choices for math are the same as computer science.

First you need to know how the Army is structured into different Branches.  Combat Arms is the warfighter and therefore the elite bunch in the Army.  All the other Branches support the warfighter.  So your best chances of getting promoted and receiving increasingly higher pay are in the Combat Arms Branch.  All the other Branches support the warfighter.  (It's like the difference between a NASCAR driver and his pit crew.)

In the Combat Arms Branch the logical choices are usually Field Artillery, Air Defense Artillery, and the Corps of Engineers.  (You can probably imagine how artillery involves math skills in calculating distance, azmuth, altitude, etc.)

In the Combat Support Branch it would be Signal (Also known as communications & electronics, they handle radios, telephones, computers, video, and anything that communicates).

In the Combat Service Support Branch it would be Finance.  (They're the accountants that pay people and bills.)

As long as you have a Bachelor's Degree you can be assigned basically to any career field, but people normally try to get into Combat Arms.

Go to:  http://usmilitary.about.com/od/officerjob1/l/blaroffjobs.htm and you'll find a description of each of the jobs.  You may even find one you like that you hadn't thought of.

Good luck and thanks for wanting to serve in uniform.
