Careers: Military--Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, Coast Guard/Will my son be discharged?

Question
My son started basic training 6 July 09,after he left he recieved a summons to appear in court for assault and battery. I spoke with the D.A. office several times they assured me he had a valid reason not to appear. I needed a copy of his orders sent to D.A. so had to call departing base to have them sent to D.A. His recruiter wanted a faxed copy of summons and then brought it to departing base. I was told this morning that is being reported to Lackland and he will most likely be sent home to go to court. I was also told by the recruiter that if his case is continued without a finding he will be discharged. Any input? Advise? THANK YOU

Answer
Marcia:

No, at this point you have done all you can do.  The fault lies with him.  Be glad this is the Air Force, the Army/Marines would likely automatically discharge him with no further fanfare.  Best you can hope for at this point is that the case is heard quickly, that way he can get back to training.  Otherwise he'll be discharged.  That'll mean he *may* or may not get a chance to start over, depending on the outcome of the case.

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
