Question
Sir,
I am currently in my second enlistment and just PCS'ed from a recruiting tour in West Virginia to my "old" job and am now at McGuire.  I know that I am eligible for Palace chase but was wondering if I can go the DD 368 route with a "conditional release" and not have to do the Palace chase paperwork.  There is a recruiting job available in the Air guard full time and I don't want to have to wait the time to do Palace chase.  Is this a possible option??  Thank you for your insight!

Answer
Luke,
Palace Chase is by far your best option.  What's the rush?

When you apply for Palace Chase, your In-Service Recruiter works with the base you want to move to.  They are required to "block" a position for you.  It's part of the approval process; you are required to have an actual job to move into when you leave active duty and join the ANG.  In other words, the gaining ANG base holds the position until you are either approved or disapproved.  You'll have the job there when you ETS off of active duty, regardless of the timeframe.

I called my friend who handles this at AFPC and asked about the time frame for approvals and disapprovals.  She has seen it as quick as  2 weeks and as slow as 6-7 weeks.

Thanks for wanting to continue serving.
Colonel H
