Question
Thanks for taking the time to read this, sir.  I am a prior enlisted Marine who previously signed an open contract and was in an aviation maintenance MOS.  I am currently finishing up a mechanical engineering degree and considering OCS upon graduation.  I would ideally like to be an infantry officer, but will my previous MOS/education pigeon-hole me into being assigned into another field after TBS?

Also, does the 28 year-old age time limit count from when I sign the contract or when I will start OCS?

Answer
Hey Trevor

The 28 year old time limit is from when you sign your contract, as far as I know.
Congrats on your degree, it sounds in depth to say the least haha. And thanks for your prior service, you guys are the reason my cobra can be in the fight! As for worrying about getting pigeon-holed into an AMO MOS, dont even worry about that, because thats not how it works at all at TBS. You will fill out a wish list and depending on your grades and the needs of the marine corps you will be placed in a field. What I can tell you is that they really try to get everyone a choice in their top 5.
