Question
I have hypothyroidism which is controlled by medication. I have played both football and ran track in college. I'm very physically active-I workout, run six miles and swim over an hour every day with no problems at all.
My lifelong dream has also been to become a Navy SEAL. All I do now is train to one day be a SEAL. I have a written letter from my doctor which says that I do not have any physical limitations with my condition as long as it is controlled.

My question is will having hypothyroidism keep me from being a Navy SEAL?
  Thank You.

Answer
My suggestion to you is to talk with a recruiter. It's been 30 years since I was in the TEAMS. Your local recruiter will be up to date on all the regs. It may be possible for you to get a waiver for your condition.
