Question
Hello,

My fiance enlisted in the Marine Corps about a year and a half ago. I am strongly considering the navy for one enlistment term for many personal reasons. The main reason I have not signed the dotted line yet is the fear that we'd have to wait at least another four years before getting married. I spoke with a recruiter who assured me that I'd be stationed within a 50 mile radius of my husband's duty station once married, however, he was unable to provide me with documentational evidence to support his claim. If we get married after I join, can we get stationed close to one another, or will I have to decide between waiting four additional years to get married or making a different job choice?

Thank you,
Courtney

Answer
hey courtney

the military is pretty good about stationing spouses together, but i would definitely get that in writing from the recruiter. Recruiters are always hurting for people to sign up, so if he is smart he will provide you some proof of his claim. Make sure he knows that you will not sign under any condition unless you see proof of this claim. Or maybe go to another recruiter. They generally will say nearly anyting to get people to sign up.
