Question
I am currently serving on active duty and approximately 2/3 through my contract.  Would i be able to get out early from my contract if I have secured a federal DOD job that is the same as my mos.  If so how early and where can i find the regulations stating this.  My job is not mission crucial to my unit.  They don't know what to do with us.  The army has been mandatory reclassing people the last few years from my current mos.  I love my job and am looking forward to getting out and performing that job.  I don't want to get offered a job and get looked over or passed over due to me being in the army.

Answer
No. Unless the Army chapters you out for misconduct or overweight or some other administrative means, you'll be expected to live up to the terms of the contract that you signed; particularly if you received an enlistment bonus. If they truly don't need you anymore they will offer you a reduction in force chapter and let you go. That, however, is doubtful.

Expertise

I am currently an active duty Army Captain in the Military Police Field. I have been enlisted (Military Intelligence) and attended The United States Military Academy at West Point. I can answer questions related to the Army, posting, jobs, lifestyle, workings... pretty much anything you can throw at me with the exception of very specific recruting or medical questions. I have no expertise in what it takes to get in the military other than the fact that I, myself, joined at one point in time.

Experience

I have experience in both deployed and garrision environments as a Military Police Officer.

Education/Credentials
Bachelor of Science in Arabic and French from United States Military Academy at West Point.
