Question
Sir, I have filled out an online resume with US Jobs as well as the Dept of the Navy for a consideration for a civilian job. It seems I am not considered eligible for the Military points because I served during the wrong period. I was told I would fall under the VEOA of 1998. Although this may be true I am unable to be considered because that fact is not taken in consideration when filling out the online resume. How else may I get consideration for a Federal civilian job? The VEOA also allows a preference eligible to file a formal complaint with the Department of Labor's Veterans Employment and Training Service (VETS). If VETS is unable to resolve the complaint within 60 days, the veteran may appeal to the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB). The law also makes a willful violation of veterans' preference a prohibited personnel practice under law.
