Question
I am just about to graduate from college and am looking at entering the Coast Guard. It has been suggested that I apply for OCS. I meet all the requirement age 21, 3.5GPA, good physical condition. The one problem I have is I scored a 930 on SAT and qualifying score is a 1000. Do you know if there is any exceptions to the rule if I am a graduate from college?

Answer
Robert,
Good Question..I know that the Coast Guard grants waivers in some areas. If you have a degree it greatly helps your chances. OCS is a great way to go actually, your best bet is to talk to a recruiter about the SAT score and see if they can waiver it or not. If not you can always try the enlisted side and then apply for OCS while you are enlisted I have several friends who are going through that option right now. I know that this is a vague answer but unfortunatly I can't give you a positive answer on the SAT score. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask.
Thank You,
Eric
