Question
I am writing this letter in reference to your granting a waiver on my behalf. I was discharged honorably from the Army on April 15, 2004 with a Chaper 15 (Homosexual Admission) re-entry code R4. The reason for my (homosexual admission) was due to my immaturity and family disharmony. I have since being discharged been married for almost two years and have matured a great deal. I have come to realize that I loved being a soldier and serving my country. I have not felt that level of pride and fulfillment since leaving the Army. I would like another opportunity to serve. I know the process of  becoming a soldier again will be difficult, but being a soldier, I am prepared to go the distance.

Warmest Regards,
Monique C. (Joyner) Van Buren

Answer
Firstly, I don't grand waivers. That would be the US Army Recruiting Command and it would be applied for during your attempt to re-enter with your recruiter. Unfortunately, your RE4 Code means that you are also ineligible for re-entry to the US Army at this time. Due to the nature of your chapter and the current policy of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" any potential request for an upgrade of your RE code and a waiver is unlikely to succeed.  Your best bet is to wait for any potential shift in policy and try again if that happens.

Expertise

I am currently an active duty Army Captain in the Military Police Field. I have been enlisted (Military Intelligence) and attended The United States Military Academy at West Point. I can answer questions related to the Army, posting, jobs, lifestyle, workings... pretty much anything you can throw at me with the exception of very specific recruting or medical questions. I have no expertise in what it takes to get in the military other than the fact that I, myself, joined at one point in time.

Experience

I have experience in both deployed and garrision environments as a Military Police Officer.

Education/Credentials
Bachelor of Science in Arabic and French from United States Military Academy at West Point.
