Question
I would like to re-enter the navy reserves.I'm prior service, and I'm in my forties and healthy, and in pretty good shape. Are there any programs for older prior service members?I would rejoin in a heart beat.I don't smoke, drank or do drugs ever.Would the Navy except me back?

Answer
Hi Sarah,

You may wish to see my article about prior service enlistments at: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningthemilitary/a/priorservice.htm In addition to the information in the article, I'll add that it's much easier to join the Reserves as prior service, than the active duty services.

As for age, the maximum age for Navy Reserve non-prior service Enlistment is 39 (see: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningthemilitary/a/enlage.htm).

Because you are prior service, from that you can add your previous years of service. For example, if you spent six years in the Navy Reserves, you can re-join up to the age of 45.

Hope this helps!
