Question
I am currently a high school junior  and in the college searching process. I am very interested in the military and want to be a part of it. I would like to join the Maine Corps, so I want to go to college with the NROTC scholarship. I want to know what the requirements are and how to start the application process to get the scholarship. Do I also need to apply to the schools with the NROTC scholarship. Also what happens if I get the scholarship but don’t get into the school that offers it? I am a school athlete. I participate in football, swim and dive, and lacrosse. I also have a B+ average and do community service. If that helps at all the only reason I want NROTC is because I do not think I can get into the Naval Academy with a B+ average. I still will apply though.

Answer
Rich:

Definitely apply to the USNA regardless of what you think.  It's worth the shot.  As far as NROTC goes, that one's a bit out of my area of expertise, however, google brings up this site:

https://www.nrotc.navy.mil/

It pretty much lays out what you have to do, the colleges, and everything else.  Check it out, I think it'll help.

Expertise

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.

Experience

Field Radio Operator: MOS 2531. Served as a Platoon Sergeant in a Communications Platoon assigned to MEU Service Support Group 24 (Special Operations Capable). Did a hitch in the Army reserves as an 11B (Infantryman), 3 years. Finished out my career in the Air National Guard as a BioEnvironmental Engineer MOS 4B3X1, did that for a few years.
