Question
I am 18 years old and it has been my dream to become a Navy
Seal for at least the last couple of years. I have done a
lot of research, and understand the physical process, but am
a little bit fuzzy on the details of eye sight requirements.
I have really bad vision and I know that Lasik surgery is
out of the question for me, but I was wondering what the
requirements were for the PRK surgery. Also, if it is not
going to be possible for me to become a Seal, I was looking
into joining the Air Force Pararescue. I was wondering how
Pararescue compares to the Seals in terms of amount of
training, level and areas of expertise, pay grade for
officers, and frequency of deployments.

Answer
Sorry late answering I was away for military training.

well, get off the computer and go talk to a navy recruiter and air force recruiter.

pay is trhe same

Seal training is the best in the world and no one compares.

Both have high drop put rates, so you better be able to run 4 miles in the sand on a beach in 32 minutes.  You better be able to stay awake for 5 days with 7 hours asleep total.

And your eye sight better be 20/40 unocorrected after lasik surgery.

You better live PT, climb ropes, do 200 pushup in 6 minutes,
and be bale to take anything, and you better be able to swim 2 miles in under 30 minutes as well, in the freezing cold.

get my drift??

good luck

Expertise

I am a National Guard recruiter , been doing it for seven years and am a subject matter expert on qualifications for National Guard and I keep up to date on Regular Army regs and programs. I was in the Navy for 4 years and have 13 years in the Guard. I will not sugar coat my answers to you. They are usually short and to the point. If you need more in depth, ask me. Because each situation is different, alot of times you need to actually talk to a recruiter and let them evaluate your situation in person, by looking at your documents, issues etc. If I suggest this, it would be in your best interest to do so. Finally...thank you for your interest in serving this great nation of ours. Very few people can actually make the cut to serve let alone choose to do so. So thank you for wanting to and hopefully you will get a chance. Whatever branch you choose, thank you and good luck.
