Question
QUESTION: I am an A1C, and have been in for about 20 months and on my first duty station for about 5. well about 2 mo. ago i was sexually assaulted in my dorm room on base. continuing to live on base is not an option and i am not finically able to live off base, is there a way to get stationed at another base?

ANSWER: Amy,
I am very sorry to hear that happened to you.  I hope you weren't seriously injured.  Hopefully you reported it both to your supervisor and the Security Forces.  If not, that person and his friends will assume they're free to continue that behavior, maybe even to you.  It's never too late to file a report.  Believe me, they take that kind of thing very seriously.

Only after you have reported the incident are you eligible to request a different duty station.

Once again, I feel terrible for you.
Please don't give up on the Air Force, that incident could've happened anywhere.  There're idiots everywhere.

QUESTION: yes, it has been reported, now how do I go about applying for a
relocation?

Answer
Amy,
Up through your chain of command.  Send a letter to your Wing Commander, with your immediate supervisor, squadron commander, support group commander In Turn.  Any secretary should be able to show you how to properly address an IN TURN letter.  Then fill in the body of the letter in private, stating your request for reassignment and why.  It's not called a Humanitarian Assignment, merely a Reassignment.
There's no guarantees, but it should work.
