Question
Hello, my husband joined the Army in June of 2005 with a waiver because he has a steel rod from his knee to his ankle on his right side which was noted in his paperwork. He got to basic & broke his left ankle & was told he would have to restart training so he decided it was best for him to just come home instead of starting all over. He wants to re-enlist, a recruiter has already sent a request for a waiver once before a couple of yrs ago & it was denied(he couldn't even go to meps for a consult). He was told he needed information from a orthopedic surgeon stating he is 100% good to go because of his separation code which is jfw 3. Well now we have contacted the surgeon who performed my husband's surgery & we have the documents needed not to mention a recruiter willing to work with him. I just wanted to know what are the chances of him being able to re-enlist. He is more than ready to serve his country again.

Answer
Kesha,
His chances are good.  If he received a waiver once, he'll be able to get it again.  Just follow the instructions from the recruiter and he should be OK.  As he knows from before, it takes awhile to get a waiver approved.
Good luck,
Colonel H
