Careers: Military--Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, Coast Guard/Praying for my son

Question
My son enlisted into the U.S.A.F..  He finished basic training.  He started Military Training School.  He found out that he did not pass one of his classes. He called and told me, that he is going to be honorably discharged. He has worked and prayed for this day since he was 15 years old. Is there any real possibility his superiors will give him a second chance, reclassify him or give him and opportunity to stay in as a reservist?  I am praying for him. If honorably discharged, will his chances of getting into college or government employment be hindered?

Thanks,
M. Sims

Answer
...something doesn't sound right to me.... Usually if someone washes out of training, they are usually reclassified. What kind of job was it?

If he is in fact being discharged, there still should be a reserve option... he just has to enlist with the reserves since the Air Force and the Reserve component are two separate entities.

If he is being honorably discharged, then hes fine for any government service.
