Question
QUESTION: I am in AIT as an f16 maintainer and have been doing well. We recently did our first floor exercise and afterwards I felt nauseated and dizzy. We only did panel removal and safe for maitenence. I have a severe rash were I leaned down to remove the panel. I fear its a severe allergic reaction to the paint or surface cleaner. I went to medical and they said if it continues they'll remove me from the irritant. If I can't touch the plane I can't maintain. I am in the air guard do they reclass? Or will they kick me out? I was a bmt honor grad and I don't want to leave but I'm sick of feeling sick

ANSWER: If the solvent is causing a reaction, they will reclass you into something that doesnt involve that solvent. You should be ok.

QUESTION: My guard base currently has openings in mechanical fields only. Will I be able to pick my reclass? Will I be able to keep my once promised bonus since this is a no prior knowledge health issue? I believe It is the paint. Does the military use the same paint type for everything?

Answer
Thats a question that I cant answer. It will depend on what they have available, since they know that you have an allergy, they will more than likely take you out of aviation unless they can place you in an area where you will have minimal to no contact to the paint. What I would do is get with the rel-classification section and see what they have in store with you.
