Question
I was charged with a Grand Larceny charge in 2008. I served one year unsupervised probation with no restitution. I know the thing I did was very wrong and what i did was out of stupidity. I'm just one of many who just needs a second chance to prove how good of a person i am. I have many people in my county who knows that as well. Want to have a enjoyable future and start a family but want to be able to support them. Im now going to do community service to show people i'm not the same person. Life in the military would help get me where i want to be. I past the ASVAB test already and just need a second chance. Is their any hope for me getting in?

Answer
Felony charges make entry into the military very very difficult. They require an approval from a General Officer usually at the command level of the service you are trying to enter. All services can complete a waiver, but the likelihood of that waiver being approved depends on the persons willingness to take what ever they give you for a job and the recruiters willingness to do the waiver. With today's economy the way it is and with everyone being out of a job, the recruiters have a walk in market which will make the likelihood of a waiver low.

I still have contacts with in the recruiting field and if I don't know the answer then I have folks who do where I can find the answer. I am very blunt and straight forward and will make no attempts to BS you. I will give you the best information that I possible can can. If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
