Question
QUESTION: I am a guardsman in AIT and am working on f16's I have seemed to have developed a severe allergy to hydraulic fluid, I get nausea, dizzyness, and a rash. I went to medical and they said come back in a week and if it doesn't improve we'll remove you from the source. I was an honor grad at bmt and I really don't want out but I can't take how this is making me sick. What's going to happen to me and what should I do? Are they gonna try to medically discharge me?

ANSWER: Tracy:

They'll do some testing first to see exactly what is making you sick. Then go from there.  The next option is re-training.  Discharge is the last resort.

QUESTION: I have been to the doctor twice and they treat the symptoms not the cause. I sent my base back at home an e-mail and then got tore apart my a sgt for contacting them. They are treating me like I'm faking an illness I'm tired if them putting off something that could be a serious medical issue.I'm frustrated and don't know what to do any suggestions should I go to my dorm military training leader? Or just be sick for my 3 months that are left here they didn't want to discuss possible retraining

Answer
Utilize your chain of command.  If retraining isn't an option, then do what's best for you. What, EXACTLY, do you expect them to do?  Of COURSE they are going to treat 'the symptoms', because there may not be a 'known cause', or they don't know for sure what it is.  You have suspicions, but no proof, which they have to have to do something more.

Try your chain of command and explain, other than that there isn't much more you CAN do.

One other thing I forgot, go and talk to Bio Environmental about your issue.  This sounds like something they could assist with.

Expertise

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.

Experience

Did a hitch in the Army reserves as an 11B (Infantryman), 3 years. Finished out my career in the Air National Guard as a BioEnvironmental Engineer MOS 4B3X1, did that for a few years.
