Question
Hi,

My husband is currently in the military (Army-Infantry). He is wanting to do the Green to Gold program and has all the qualifications except he will not be in his re-enlistment window for another 2 years. He signed for 6 years active and has currently served 2 of those 6 years. We were wondering if there was a waiver he could obtain to still possibly participate in the Green to Gold program, even though he wont be in his window for another 2 years. Thank you so much for your time and expertise.

Answer
Check with a recruiter, but I don't think its possible. They will want him to serve his contract, or most of it, prior to transitioning. This constantly changes, however, so the information I have may not be the most current. A recruiter or career counselor on his base will have that information. He  should definitely check there. There are other scholarship opportunities to be had and he should be taking some courses though his local education center in order to better prepare himself for a transition to college.

Expertise

I am currently an active duty Army Captain in the Military Police Field. I have been enlisted (Military Intelligence) and attended The United States Military Academy at West Point. I can answer questions related to the Army, posting, jobs, lifestyle, workings... pretty much anything you can throw at me with the exception of very specific recruting or medical questions. I have no expertise in what it takes to get in the military other than the fact that I, myself, joined at one point in time.

Experience

I have experience in both deployed and garrision environments as a Military Police Officer.

Education/Credentials
Bachelor of Science in Arabic and French from United States Military Academy at West Point.
