Question
Hello, My son has been on medical hold in 319 for about 5 days.  He hurt his back. They did exrays and said they wanted to also do an MRI. Now he calls me this morning and says they are sending him home on Adminstative Discharge. I am not sure what that means. And the reason for the discharge is because he has been sleep walking.  So what does this mean for my son and how long does this process take? I am sorry and meant to tell you he is in the Air Force at Lackland.

Answer
Typical Air Force ... ok what they did was send him home for sleepwalking, this is a question that is asked by the recruiter at the time of application. Its a dis-qualifier. Since he hurt his back, they use the sleepwalking as a reason of discharge. Its better than getting an erroneous discharge. After your son get back, Have him go to the VA and apply for benefits. Be sure that he GETS copies of ALL his medical records before he leaves!!! This will speed up the process of getting some befefits from the VA for his back. If he didnt sleepwalk before he left, then the VA will consider it service connected and he will get rated because of it.
