Careers: Military--Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, Coast Guard/va compensation

Question
I am a veteran of the Army and would love to join the Air Force Reserve.  I am collecting 80 percent VA Compensation and no compensation from the military itself.  I was wondering if I could still join a reserve component.
I recently heard that the military leaves it up to the MEPS doctors to determine if someone is eligible for service, and I know I would lose the VA money for the drill weekend.  I want to know if I actually can serve if the MEPS doctors determine that I am fit for service.

Answer
You would have to check to see what your RE ENTRY code on your DD Form 214 is for coming back to service. If you have a valid RE code that allows you to return to duty, then it should be easy. If not you would have to get the Department of the Army to change it. Doing so may interfere with your disability payments. Check with the VA to see what if any changes will take place.

If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
