Question
I was discharged from the army with an honorably discharge,do I have access to get on a base to use any of the facilities? I am now a foster parent and will be using the military discount to take my family to Disney. I was told by Disney that I could buy our tickets on a base at a good discount. Thanks this would really help with such a large family.

Answer
Dear Clive --

You can get access to the more open bases as a visitor.  Because you are not a retiree, reservist or still on active duty, you do not get the same access to on-base facilities as the others.  However, on an open base, you may still be able to use the morale, welfare and recreation office.  This is the office where you can purchase discounted Disney tickets and tickets to other events at a deep discount.  You will need a government ID (driver's listened or state ID card) and a copy of your DD 214 to show your honorable discharge.

You are also eligible to use base contract facilities such as the food court, bowling alley, pinball arcade, and non-commissary, non-PX/BX retail stores and kiosks.

I hope this information helps.  Please write back, if you have additional questions.  Thank you for your service.
