Question
i have a slight blood coagulating problem. i had my tonsils and adnoids removed and had a slight bleeding problem. they diagnosed me with a very mild enzyme clotting problem that would only affect me if i had a serious surgery. it doesent effect daily life and isnt a serious coagulating problem, very very mild to say the least. well ive heard different storys about how theres waivers and such for this in certain branches. i just wanted to know if the army will take me cause its been a life long dream to serve. and this would be a terrible reason not to get that oppurtunity. any advice from a knowledgable source would be great! So my main question is it possible for this to get medically waiverd. also i take no medication what so ever and this is my only medical problem. Thanks

Answer
I cannot answer the question definitively. My gut instinct would be to say you're probably going to be precluded from joining the service just because of the chance of you dying if you sustained an injury from training or in combat. You could go to a recruiter and discuss it with him, however, to be sure. Be sure to bring all of your paperwork and records relating to your condition so that they can go ahead and put you in for a waiver, if its possible. Good Luck!

Expertise

I am currently an active duty Army Captain in the Military Police Field. I have been enlisted (Military Intelligence) and attended The United States Military Academy at West Point. I can answer questions related to the Army, posting, jobs, lifestyle, workings... pretty much anything you can throw at me with the exception of very specific recruting or medical questions. I have no expertise in what it takes to get in the military other than the fact that I, myself, joined at one point in time.

Experience

I have experience in both deployed and garrision environments as a Military Police Officer.

Education/Credentials
Bachelor of Science in Arabic and French from United States Military Academy at West Point.
