Question
I have been in the military for 6 years and hung around the round crowd for a little at a lesser rank than my present rank. I seperated myself and was later a par of an investigation for an ex associate testing postive. There were 3 statements giving say I used drugs and after I was interrogated for hours I made a statement stating I used drugs. I was processed but the board found no basis and recommends retention. My direct CO recommened all charges be suspended by the Base CO recommended seperation with an honorable discharge and a reenlistment code of RE-4B to the Secretary of the Navy. All the events that occured happened in a past enlisent that I was discharged from honorably. I have never been I trouble and never tested positive for anyhing. My military record is very good. Could I be discharged because the case was forwarded to the SECNAV? I really want to stay in the military and finish my career. What could I do to continue service and not be seperated? I did come in the military on a drug waiver but never tested positive...

Answer
Deborah,
I'm sorry you're having these problems.  I really hope you've consulted the Defense Division of the Navy Legal Service Office on your base because you definitely need it.  These folks are a sailor's advocate and work to defend you and your rights.  They are NOT in your chain-of-command so you can speak freely.  They can examine your particular problems and advise you as to how to proceed.

Their service is free and confidential and at this point they are your best bet.  Please contact them right away.
Good luck,
Colonel H
