Question
Mr. Howard..Quick Question if you don't mind. There is a rumor going around that the Air Force doesn't accept prior service members coming from the Army? Is this true? If so, are there any exceptions to this rule? I ETS June 2010, out of the Army. My job in the Army is a Operating Room Tech (medical). I would love to just switch over if it were up to me. Have you heard of anyone trying to switch from Army to Air Force and were successful? Is the Air Force in need of medical personnel? Thank you so much for your time.

Answer
What you heard is true. The only exceptions to that rule that I know of are combat related postions like pararescue, combat control, and Tactical Air Control party.

The Air Force stopped taking all other prior service on active duty in 2000. You do have the option to go reserve, if you can get your 4 year degree and come in as an officer which is the only open door to prior service that I am currently aware of.
