Question
Hello I am a Army Sgt stationed in Vilseck Germany we are set to deploy here pretty soon, I was at a TRADOC unit before this one and got approved by my 1st SGT to get braces I am here now and I am wondering can I be forced to deploy. Will I have to remove my braces and what options do I have?

Answer
Braces aren't necessarily the deployment limiting factor that they used to be..  You can be made to deploy while wearing them.  I don't think they can make you remove them, but you should go discuss your options with a dentist at the clinic there.  Most likely scenario is that your braces stay in place and that you'll have to have them adjusted on your R&R and once you get back.

Expertise

I am currently an active duty Army Captain in the Military Police Field. I have been enlisted (Military Intelligence) and attended The United States Military Academy at West Point. I can answer questions related to the Army, posting, jobs, lifestyle, workings... pretty much anything you can throw at me with the exception of very specific recruting or medical questions. I have no expertise in what it takes to get in the military other than the fact that I, myself, joined at one point in time.

Experience

I have experience in both deployed and garrision environments as a Military Police Officer.

Education/Credentials
Bachelor of Science in Arabic and French from United States Military Academy at West Point.
