Question
Ok so I'm only 14 but When i get out of college i want to join the marines. When I join I will want to be a sniper or a helicopter pilot. I know there both hard to be, but i couldn't stand not being in the action. Do you have any advice for me? And Which would you pick if you had to?
                                              Thanks,

Answer
Caleb, OK so your're 14. You want to be a sniper or a pilot....you need math and lots of it! you have to have the ability to calculate figures in your head...practice, noting hard at first, just basic stuff.

Get into Physical shape. Start running, some weight training, eating right. This will benefit you when its time to enlist.

Stay out of trouble!! keep your goals in mind at all times and ask yourself this question before you decide....If I do this will it effect my getting into the Marines?

Stay away from Alcohol, Drugs, Cigarettes , Chewing Tobacco...

Now is the time to build your body, what you want to do is not a cake walk. Its tough, its physically and mentally challenging.

If you want to be a sniper, you have to ask yourself... Can you live with taking another humans life in the line of duty? Remember those are memories you will have to live with for the rest of your life.

If it was my choice... Id be the pilot.

I have spent the past 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, 3 years was assigned as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter. I have been deployed various times to several locations. If it is a career in the military you are looking for or thinking about I most likely have the answer. I still have contacts with in the recruiting field and if I don't know the answer then I have folks who do where I can find the answer. I am very blunt and straight forward and will make no attempts to BS you. I will give you the best information that I possible can can. If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
