Question
all right, am planning to join the airforce, and am going try to branch out into paratroopers or even go to being an astronaut, am currently trying to go and finish my bachelors (just finished my A.A), to do the officer program....
what is a good field to study (for bachelors) to help me out with becoming ether a paratrooper or astronaut? Is it recommended to do the officer program?
will a minor fracture on the hand affect me in any way?
how bad would my vision affect me, using contacts of -1.5(don't know how to convert it into (20/20, 20,70) ratios.
any help i would appreciate it, i want to be able to serve my country with my full potentials. thank you.

Answer
If you are planning to be an astronaut you want to be a pilot. Aeronautical engineering is what you need for that career field. We dont have paratroopers per say, we have Para rescue which is the air force version of a search & rescue.  If you are going to pursue one of these career fields, then you need to tailor your degree towards them.

As for your hand, as long as there is no temporary pins, your good.... and far as he vision, as long as its correctable to 20/20 you good there.

I have spent the past 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, 3 years was assigned as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter. I have been deployed various times to several locations. If it is a career in the military you are looking for or thinking about I most likely have the answer. I still have contacts with in the recruiting field and if I don't know the answer then I have folks who do where I can find the answer. I am very blunt and straight forward and will make no attempts to BS you. I will give you the best information that I possible can can. If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
