Question
I have been short ended of the stick on information needed about joining the military. I've requested information from the following branches; Army, Navy and recently The Nation Guard. I have always thought about joining but have so many unaswered questions.

1. Buddy System; My friend of 14 years has made a promise to join if i do, but we want to stay together. He's male and I am female. Is this possible?
2. I recieved my GED in 2009 what more would i need to join? Do you have to have a HSD or GED to join?
3. I recieved my GED at 16 and I am now in my first year of college at 17, i do not turn 18 until December of this year; would i have to wait until I'm 18 or can a parent signature work?

Answer
1.  Buddy system doesn't really exist, only when a group of people join together, but since you are opposite sex, it definitely wont happen.

2. For Army, you need 15 college credits to get in with a GED, the National Guard can take limited GED without 15 credits.

3.  You can join 1t 17 with parental consent.

Expertise

I am a National Guard recruiter , been doing it for seven years and am a subject matter expert on qualifications for National Guard and I keep up to date on Regular Army regs and programs. I was in the Navy for 4 years and have 13 years in the Guard. I will not sugar coat my answers to you. They are usually short and to the point. If you need more in depth, ask me. Because each situation is different, alot of times you need to actually talk to a recruiter and let them evaluate your situation in person, by looking at your documents, issues etc. If I suggest this, it would be in your best interest to do so. Finally...thank you for your interest in serving this great nation of ours. Very few people can actually make the cut to serve let alone choose to do so. So thank you for wanting to and hopefully you will get a chance. Whatever branch you choose, thank you and good luck.
